Hornets Hand Brandon Miller Massive $209 Million Deal

The Charlotte Hornets have made a major commitment to Brandon Miller, locking up the 23-year-old forward on a five-year, $209 million rookie-scale contract extension.

The agreement was confirmed by Miller’s representatives, AJ Vaynerchuk and Joey Middleton of VaynerSports, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

The deal comes after a career-best 2025-26 campaign for Miller, who averaged 20.2 points and 4.9 rebounds while shooting 38.3 percent from three-point range across 65 regular-season appearances.

It was an important bounce-back season for the former No. 2 overall pick, who had been limited to just 27 games the previous year due to injury.

Miller played a significant role in Charlotte’s unexpected push toward the postseason, alongside rookie Kon Knueppel, as the Hornets emerged as one of the league’s biggest surprises during the second half of the season.

His impact was particularly evident in the team’s record.

Charlotte went 41-24 in games Miller played, compared to just 3-14 when he was unavailable, highlighting his importance to the team’s turnaround.

Despite their late-season surge, the Hornets ultimately fell short of the playoffs after losing their second play-in tournament game.

Miller’s health had been a concern entering the offseason after he missed time early in the campaign with a shoulder injury.

He underwent surgery in May to improve the stability of the shoulder but has since made a full recovery and returned to the court during Charlotte’s preseason preparations.

The extension also arrives during a significant period of change for the Hornets.

Charlotte has moved on from two of its most recognizable players, trading longtime franchise cornerstones LaMelo Ball and Miles Bridges as the organization reshapes its roster.

Those departures leave Miller positioned to take on an even greater responsibility heading into his fourth NBA season.

Selected second overall in the 2023 NBA Draft, Miller has steadily developed into one of Charlotte’s most important offensive pieces.

Now, with a $209 million commitment in place and a reshaped roster around him, Miller enters the new season as a central figure in the Hornets’ plans for the future.
