Joel Embiid’s Work Ethic Called Into Question

Embiid

Joel Embiid’s work ethic is being scrutinised since he’s become teammates with one of the hardest working NBA players to ever grace the court.

The fact that LeBron has been able to play 23 (going into 24) NBA seasons is no accident – he treats his body like a temple and works like a dog in the offseason and during the basketball season to make sure he can play as many games as possible for his team.

Heck, he hasn’t missed a playoff game in his ENTIRE CAREER. Insanity.

However, Embiid is on the other end of the spectrum.

The Ringer’s Max Kellerman recently claimed Embiid wasn’t among the hardest workers on Team USA in 2024, and he wondered if that would be a problem heading into this season particularly.

Jeff Teague discussed this further.

“Saying he ain’t one of the hardest-working superstars, but I think we all know that,” Teague said on Club 520. “I mean, you can tell by his health. He’s probably not the most dedicated person to the craft… Kevin Durant probably one of the more dedicated players to basketball. See how recovered from his injury and still be playing at the high level.

“Joel Embiid is just one of the most talented players ever, but maybe he don’t have the same work ethic. I think he work hard. I know how hard it is to be really good at basketball for him to be at the top at one point in time to be the MVP of the league.

“I know he put in work, but to be around all those greats and not being the hardest worker don’t mean you don’t work hard. You just don’t work as hard as LeBron [James].”
