NBA training camps are approaching, but several recognizable names are still searching for their next opportunity.
Victor Oladipo is among the most interesting players available, with the former two-time All-Star publicly making his case for another NBA chance after spending more than three years away from the league.
“I believe my body is finally right,” Oladipo wrote. “I believe I still have GREAT (and more importantly WINNING) basketball in front of me. I believe I can be a valuable contributor to an NBA locker room. And what I’m asking for right now is an opportunity to prove it.”
Oladipo made the plea in an open letter published by The Players’ Tribune as he attempts to return from the devastating injuries that derailed his career.
He hasn’t appeared in an NBA game since tearing the patellar tendon in his left knee during Miami’s 2023 playoff run. His injury history stretches back even further, with Oladipo failing to play more than 42 games in a season since rupturing the quadriceps tendon above his right knee in 2019.
But Oladipo isn’t alone.
Former No. one overall pick Ben Simmons remains available after sitting out the entire 2025-26 season. The three-time All-Star announced earlier this offseason that he was attempting an NBA comeback after last playing for the Clippers in 2024-25.
Jalen Duren is arguably the biggest name technically still on the market, although his situation is different. The 22-year-old is a restricted free agent and has until October one to accept Detroit’s one-year qualifying offer or reach a longer-term agreement.
Several proven veterans are also without contracts, including Kevin Love, Seth Curry, Nicolas Batum and Bruce Brown.
Love, 37, spent much of last season in a mentoring role with Utah, while Curry is searching for another opportunity after playing alongside his brother Stephen in Golden State last season. Brown remains unsigned despite shooting a career-best 38.5 percent from three in his return to Denver.
Ochai Agbaji, Gabe Vincent, Dwight Powell and Kelly Olynyk are also among the notable players still available.
