Ayesha Curry Drops Major Hint About Steph Curry NBA Future

Steph Curry may be 38 years old, but retirement doesn’t appear to be right around the corner.

Questions about how much longer Curry plans to play have naturally grown as the Warriors superstar enters the later stages of his career. But his wife, Ayesha Curry, may have just provided one of the strongest clues yet about his timeline.

“Of course, Steph is the hardest-working man in the room,” Ayesha told NBC Sports Bay Area. “He has no days off. He hasn’t stopped since last season ended. He’s ready. He’s ready to get out there. I think we’re going to be in for some fun surprises over the next couple of years.”

The key part is “the next couple of years.”

Curry remains one of the NBA’s elite players despite his age, and his contract situation could provide another indication of how long he intends to keep going.

The four-time NBA champion is eligible for a two-year, $136.7 million extension with Golden State that would run through the 2028-29 season, according to New York Post reporter Jenna Lemoncelli. Curry is already set to make $62.6 million during the upcoming campaign.

Signing that extension would potentially give Curry three more seasons with the only NBA franchise he has ever known.

Golden State’s recent championship window has become another major talking point. The Warriors have won just two playoff series since capturing the 2022 championship, raising questions about whether Curry could eventually consider finishing his career elsewhere in pursuit of a fifth ring.

Curry, however, has made his position on that possibility clear.

“There’s no question I want to be here the rest of my career, and I’m pretty sure that’s going to happen,” Curry told NBC Sports Bay Area.

Nothing has been officially decided regarding Curry’s retirement, and Ayesha’s comments certainly aren’t confirmation of an exact timeline.

But between Curry’s desire to remain in Golden State, his potential extension and Ayesha specifically mentioning the “next couple of years,” all signs point toward the NBA’s all-time three-point leader having plenty of basketball left.
