NBA Closes Investigation Into Bam Adebayo-Tyler Herro Incident

Adebayo (4)

The NBA has decided not to discipline Miami Heat star Bam Adebayo following last week’s physical altercation with former teammate Tyler Herro in Las Vegas.

The league has officially closed its review of the incident after speaking with both players and the National Basketball Players Association, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

“After discussing with the players involved and the NBPA, everyone would prefer to move on from this unfortunate circumstance, and no further action will be taken by the league,” an NBA spokesperson told ESPN’s Shams Charania.

The incident took place at the Resorts World Hotel in Las Vegas, where Adebayo confronted Herro over comments the Bucks guard had allegedly made on social media following his offseason departure from Miami, according to Charania. The exchange escalated after Herro responded verbally, with sources telling ESPN that Adebayo struck him near the chin. Herro was not knocked to the ground and was reportedly restrained by others before the confrontation could continue.

Herro had already made it clear that he wanted to leave the situation behind.

“Honestly, I’m just trying to move past all of it,” Herro told ESPN. “I’m focused on Milwaukee and building something special. They obviously just traded the greatest player in their history, so we want to come in and help continue what they’ve been doing.”

The altercation came after the end of a seven-year partnership in Miami. Herro was traded to the Bucks this offseason as part of the blockbuster deal that sent Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Heat, ending a successful run alongside Adebayo.

Adebayo took issue with posts from a social media account allegedly associated with Herro that questioned whether the Heat center had lived up to his $60 million salary and suggested Herro had received less support from teammates than Adebayo.

Despite the confrontation, the league has determined the matter will go no further, allowing both players to move on without suspension or fines. With the investigation now closed, the focus shifts back to basketball as Adebayo prepares for another season in Miami and Herro begins a new chapter with Milwaukee.
