Knicks One Win Away From Ending 53-Year Drought

The New York Knicks are now just one win away from their first NBA championship since 1973 after producing the biggest comeback in NBA Finals history.

Trailing by 29 points against the San Antonio Spurs, New York stormed back to claim a dramatic 107-106 victory in Game Four at Madison Square Garden and take a commanding 3-1 series lead.

The defining moment came with just seconds remaining when OG Anunoby tipped in a missed Jalen Brunson three-pointer to give the Knicks the lead and complete an unforgettable turnaround.

Head coach Mike Brown reflected on the play that will live forever in Knicks history, speaking after the game.

“You have to have a little luck in life,” Brown said. “You’ve got to have a little luck in sports. But you can also make your luck too. So you’ve got to have some natural luck and some luck where you’re going to make your own luck, and that was probably the biggest message.”

Brown had challenged Anunoby at halftime to become more active on the offensive glass. The Knicks forward responded in spectacular fashion, finishing off a comeback that eclipsed the previous Finals record of 24 points set by the Boston Celtics in 2008.

Anunoby, who is averaging 23.8 points per game while shooting 58 percent in the series, credited New York’s resilience for the victory.

“We know it’s a game of runs,” said Anunoby, who is averaging 23.8 points per game on 58% shooting this series. “We’re a resilient group. We’ve been through a lot. We’ve come back plenty of times when we’re behind. Just staying with it, weathering the storm, not being too down or angry or frustrated. Just staying with it, cut down to 18, cut it down to six, push it through. It’s a 48-minute game, just play ’til the end.”
