Steph Curry Calls Olympic Gold His “Golden Dagger” Memory

Curry (13)

Steph Curry has done just about everything in his Hall of Fame career, but his one-and-done run with Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics continues to stand out a year on.

The four-time NBA champion reflected on the experience recently.

“One hundred percent, August 10, 2024, will always be a core memory,” Curry said, via NBC Sports Bay Area’s. “A new experience playing with the guys who were on that team – the Avengers.

“And the fact that it didn’t matter what NBA team you root for, you were a Team USA fan that day. So, [it’s] a very special memory for me, for sure.”

Curry, now an 11-time All-Star, finally captured the gold medal that had been missing from his trophy case.

In the gold medal game against France, he scored 24 points, drilled eight three-pointers, and added five assists and two steals. His now-iconic “Golden Dagger” three sealed the win, a shot that instantly became a part of Olympic history.

“The [‘Golden Dagger’] is what it is now, part of the story.”

It wasn’t just about the box score. For Curry, the moment represented something much bigger: uniting fans across the NBA landscape under one flag. Even with superstars like LeBron James and Kevin Durant flanking him, it was Curry’s shooting that pushed Team USA past the host nation and quieted the Paris crowd.

France even joked about banning “Curry Sauce” from its McDonald’s restaurants after the game, a tongue-in-cheek nod to the damage he did on the international stage.
