Former NBA Veteran Explains Win-Win Situation For Luka Doncic

Luka Doncic is in a very unique situation at the Lakers and many have noted a new confidence about him as of late.

Luka is super keen to get back to an NBA Finals series as soon as humanly possible and he’s making sure everyone knows about it.

“We have what we need to compete for the championship,” Doncic said at a news conference Saturday when he signed an extension with the Lakers. “I’ll try to win every game no matter what, and we got some new great guys on the team, so you know we’re going to go for it.”

To many, Doncic’s words seem like a step in the right direction for the purple and gold, but Gilbert Arenas thinks otherwise.

Arenas believes the only reason Luka is talking such a big game is because winning a championship isn’t all resting on his shoulders and he is still teammates with the ultimate scapegoat – LeBron James.

“This is what I love about Kobe fans, the Jordan fans, they are so focused on LeBron James that Luka’s not here yet,” Arenas said. “He’s technically not here yet because when they failed last year, it was LeBron’s fault. So Luka gets a pass if LeBron stay on the team. Whatever happens, it’s LeBron’s fault. Once he’s gone, everything will go back to normal, and then they look at Luka.

“So Luka is technically in a win-win situation. If they fail, Jordan fans, Kobe fans are gonna blame LeBron. If they win, the Kobe fans and the Jordan fans are gonna praise Luka cuz they don’t want LeBron to be the center of this. So Luka gets all the credit if they win.”
