Former NBA guard Eric Bledsoe is back in the headlines for the wrong reasons.
The Suns legend was arrested early Wednesday morning and booked on a felony domestic violence charge after allegedly hitting a woman in the face. The incident reportedly occurred around 2:30 a.m. on a Los Angeles-area freeway.
The highway patrol’s investigation brought them to a gas station near U.S. 101, where Bledsoe was allegedly found with a woman who was dealing with ‘bruising and swelling to her face,” TMZ said.
The report added that the woman told officers Bledsoe had struck her and “was the reason for the bruising and swelling.”
Police say Bledsoe refused to speak when approached and was taken into custody on the spot. He is currently being held on $50,000 bail.
This isn’t the first time Bledsoe’s name has come up in a domestic dispute. Just two months ago, TMZ reported police were called to Bledsoe’s home in Los Angeles after neighbors reported a loud argument between him and girlfriend Briona Mae.
“Bledsoe and Mae were reportedly uncooperative when police arrived,” and although no arrests were made, officers confirmed “some dispute did take place,” according to the outlet.
Bledsoe was also arrested back in 2022 on a misdemeanor domestic violence charge, also involving Mae, but that case was later dropped after she gave “inconsistent statements about whether there was a physical altercation.”
The identity of the woman involved in Wednesday’s incident has not yet been confirmed.
Bledsoe played 11 seasons in the NBA, suiting up for the Clippers, Suns, Bucks, and Pelicans. He’s best remembered for his prime years in Phoenix, where he averaged over 20 points per game at his peak.
