Giannis Trade Rumours: Windhorst Speaks on Bucks Commitment

Giannis

If you’re a Golden State Warriors fan holding out hope for Giannis Antetokounmpo to team up with Steph Curry in Golden State, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst has made it clear that such a scenario is highly unlikely in the near future.

Appearing on Get Up Friday morning, Windhorst made it very clear where things stand with the Greek Freak amid all the trade speculation that’s been swirling since the Bucks’ third straight first-round playoff exit.

“There’s not going to be a Giannis Antetokounmpo trade in the short-term future,” Windhorst said bluntly. “The league has come to terms with the real realization that the Bucks are going to keep him in. Giannis is not going to ask for a trade.”

Especially considering earlier reporting from Shams Charania of The Athletic, who noted that Antetokounmpo was “exploring all his options” this offseason and “open to leaving the Bucks for the first time in his career.”

So naturally, the trade machine went into overdrive, and Dub Nation was right at the center of it.

It’s well known that Warriors fans have long envisioned Giannis Antetokounmpo teaming up with Steph Curry in the Bay Area.

But as Windhorst puts it, Golden State, and any other hopeful team, is simply dreaming right now.

Even if the Warriors tried to make something work, the math doesn’t add up cleanly. The only way a trade gets off the ground is if Golden State parts with someone like Draymond Green or Jimmy Butler. And according to Windhorst, that’s not happening either.

“The Warriors, however, openly have stated they are committed to the core of Curry, Butler and Green.,” Windhorst said. So unless something seismic shifts, it’s safe to say Giannis isn’t leaving Wisconsin any time soon.
