‘The End is Near’: Steph Curry on His NBA Career

Steph Curry has once again spoken candidly about the finite time he has left in the league, but the quote is awfully morbid.

36-year-old Curry recently told ESPN’s Malika Andrews that he’s thinking about retirement “more than I probably have before.”

He added,  “It’s okay to accept and acknowledge that the end is near. But only because it allows you to enjoy what’s happening right now. But I think the more you talk about it and the more you acknowledge it, the more it levels up the sense of urgency in the moment, now.”

Curry is in his 16th year in the league and the Christmas Day Warriors-Lakers game could be one of the last times we see Steph and LeBron James matched up on the special day.

In the same interview, Andrews this week brought up James’ recent comments about NBA viewership and how the league has “a lot of f–king threes being shot.”

Curry response, “I mean, everybody has their opinion. It’s not like I can go out and do a 360 windmill and drive down the lane and dunk on somebody. So for me, I’m never going to fight 3-point shots. That’s just how I see the game. It’s how I’ve seen the game forever. But everybody has a different viewpoint and certain skill sets that have started to come into to the league. See how many bigs are dominating down on the post, and it’s kind of either extreme. And the cool part, defenses adjust. And it takes time for that to happen, so we’ll see how it goes.

“But I’m going to keep shooting threes, so don’t worry about that.”
