Karl-Anthony Towns Shares Emotional Goodbye to Timberwolves

Just moments after his trade to the Knicks became official, Timberwolves big man Karl-Anthony Towns posted an emotional goodbye video on his social media.

He captioned it, “To the Timberwolves Family: Nine years ago, I arrived in Minnesota as a young man with a dream. Little did I know that this place would become my home, and its people would become my family. Your love, support, and unwavering loyalty have fueled my journey and inspired me to be the best player I could be,” the four-time All-Star wrote on X, alongside an accompanying video. “You’ll always hold a special place in my heart. Thank you for everything.”

Towns was featured on Shannon Sharpe’s podcast, which was posted some hours before the trade went official and KAT some high praise for his old coach Tom Thibodeau – who is about to become his coach once more.

“You know what I respected so, so much about [Tom Thibodeau] is that he wanted to win,” Towns said on Club Shay Shay. “And he put the hours in and he put the work in. Playing for Thibs was just watching someone who truly loves what they do and puts all their passion and their life mission is being the best coach they can be.”

Towns also said his admiration for Thibs has grown stronger as he’s aged and that the Knicks head coach is “one hell of a coach.”

As for his new teammates in New York, they seemed excited to have him.

“I like KAT, man, I played against him for years,” fellow newcomer, Mikal Bridges said, via NYT. “He can stretch the floor. You forget until you stand next to him just how tall he is. He’s tall as hell. Obviously a great player.”
