Paul George Defends 76ers Rookie Jared McCain Over TikTok Criticisms

McCain

He hasn’t even played one game in the NBA yet, but 76ers rookie Jared McCain is already getting trolled big time.

McCain was drafted as the number 16 overall pick by the Sixers in last week’s draft.

As well as being a baller, McCain has a large social following of 1.2 million people on TikTok due to his viral videos.

The 20-year-old knows all too well about trolling and is well prepared for the onslaught from NBA fans.

“Even since high school Ive had the social media. I’ve gotten hate since high school. Ive painted my nails since high school, so I understand my TikTok is going to come into play after one bad game,” McCain told Lauren Rosen.

Rosen asked him, “What are they gonna say?”

To which McCain responded with, “It’s going to be like. I’ve been on Twitter, Joel Embiid says, ‘Jared, we need to make a three’… Then it’s going to be one of my TikToks. So I already know what it’s going to be. But going to Duke has set me up for that, I already know what’s going to come with it and I’m prepared for it and I just embrace it. I try to just work as hard as I can and prove to everyone that I belong here.”

Even though he’s only been a Sixer for a number of days, Paul George was quick to leap to the defense of his rookie on the latest episode of Podcast P with Paul George.

“His personality stands out more than anything,” George said. “He’s got a personality like, ‘I’m me, I’m gonna do me.’ The fact that he don’t give a f**k that he paints his nails and what people say about that, and he could still be himself and go hoop… you can call him anything at that point.”

PG added, “He’s got a toughness about him, too, so I don’t think he gives a s**t.”

It’s not all hate though, with some fans doing his dance.
