The latest injury update on Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton and Celtics big man Kristaps Porzingis ahead of a crucial Game 4 on Monday.
Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton has officially been listed as questionable for Game 4 due to a left hamstring injury – a game where if the Celtics get a win, could advance to the NBA Finals.
The injury kept Haliburton out of Indiana’s 114-11 loss to Boston on Saturday.
Even though their best player in Haliburton wasn’t playing, the Pacers kept it close and C’s guard Jaylen Brown was impressed.
“Some of those guys turned into f**king Michael Jordan or whatever,” Brown said after the win. “It was like, what is going on? We couldn’t figure it out but in the fourth quarter but we just stayed close enough.”
As for Brown’s teammate Porzingis, the team announced on Sunday that he will remain out as he recovers from a right soleus calf strain.
The center hasn’t played since Game 4 of the team’s first-round series due to the injury and the C’s been managing fine without him, though are missing his versatility on both sides of the floor.
However, veteran Al Horford has been starting in Porzingis’ place, which was a huge success in Game 3. Horford went 7-12 from three and recorded 23 points.
ESPN‘s Adrian Wojnarowski reported recently that Porzingis could return as early as Game 4, it looks as though his return is more likely to happen in the NBA Finals – if the C’s were to advance.
This NBA postseason in particular, there has been an epidemic of leg injuries.
Key players like Jimmy Butler, Donovan Mitchell, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Damian Lillard had limited or no participation in the playoffs due to various leg injuries.
