Anthony Davis Responds to Brutal 0-10 Run Against Domantas Sabonis

Anthony Davis

Anthony Davis has addressed his apparent inability to beat fellow All-Star big man Domantas Sabonis.

Speaking before Wednesday night’s Lakers-Kings game in Sacramento, Davis said he wasn’t even thinking about individual matchups.

“It doesn’t matter to me,” Davis said with a shake of the head in a video posted by ESPN’s Dave McMenamin.

“I’m all about the team, I want to get a win, obviously, just because of the fact we’re… two games I think, behind them… just to be able to close that gap. So, the one-on-one thing, it doesn’t bother me.”

Unfortunately for Davis, he would fall to 0-10 against Sabonis later in the night, with LA losing to Sacramento 120-107.

The Lakers big man finished the game with 22 points, 10 rebounds and three assists on 38 percent shooting, while Sabonis put up 17 points, 19 rebounds and 10 assists on 60 percent shooting.

As well as being 0-10 against Sabonis, Davis is also 1-7 against Joel Embiid and has lost his last seven games against Nikola Jokic.

However, he is 12-8 against Giannis Antetokounmpo and 8-5 against Bam Adebayo.

Davis says he isn’t thinking about individual matchups and that’s not surprising considering his Lakers have more pressing concerns as the run to the NBA Play-In Tournament intensifies.

Following tonight’s loss in Sacramento, the ninth-placed Lakers are now just one game ahead of the 10th-placed Golden State Warriors, and two and a half games behind the eighth-placed Dallas Mavericks.
