Max Strus hit a shot for the ages on Tuesday, drilling a game-winner from beyond half-court to beat the Dallas Mavericks 121-119 at the buzzer.

Strus’ heroics were all the more unlikely considering he was able to lead Cleveland past Dallas despite Luka Doncic erupting for 45 points, 9 rebounds and 14 assists. It was well and truly the Luka show, until it wasn’t.
Strus first made a major impact in the NBA with the Miami Heat, where he was a revelation over the past two seasons with averages of more than 10 points per game when no one was expecting anything from him.
More importantly, he was part of a broader class of undrafted underdogs who helped Miami reach last year’s NBA Finals against all odds.
That earned him a four-year, $62.3 million contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers over the summer.
This season, he is averaging 12.1 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists for the Cavs, who have now won 19 of their past 23 games thanks to a run that has included a nine-game winning streak and an eight-game streak.
