Boston players are begging Blake Griffin to rejoin the team and Griffin himself has responded to their pleas.

C’s players Payton Pritchard and Derrick White revealed on Pardon My Take that they have been “begging” Griffin to come back and play.

“I think the whole team has been begging him to come back to Boston,” White explained.

Pritchard was close with Griffin and explained how he recently texted Griffin to ask him if he was, “Coming back for one last ride?”

The host of the podcast then FaceTimed Griffin, who didn’t seem like he wanted to commit to rejoining the team at all.

“I’m just enjoying my life right now, guys,” Griffin explained.

After his one season with the Celtics, Griffin opted not to return, but he never officially retired from basketball.

He has previously spoken about how much he enjoyed his time in Boston.

“I mean, Boston is unbelievable,” he said. “Living in Boston, playing in Boston was, like, one of the best experiences. Dude, the fans are incredible. Having a team that is so championship-focused, one of the best parts is the players on that team are just like such a great group of guys.”

The 34-year-old was a role player at the Celtics and played 41 games, which included 16 starts.

But his teammates loved him for his veteran mentorship and presence.

“Blake’s probably one of the best teammates all of us have ever had,” White said. “So any time you have him around, it’s great. But, I mean, I feel like it’s his decision (to not return) and we respect that, but we all just love having him around.”
