Damian Lillard’s “family man” image has taken a massive hit.
After Lillard filed for divorce from his estranged wife Kay’La Lillard on October 2, which came just days after he left the Portland Trail Blazers, she then requested sole custody of the couple’s three children, according to RadarOnline.
In response to the divorce filing, Kay’La seemingly ripped Lillard, claiming he had “never been the sole parent responsible for the care of all three of our children, for any hours-long period of time without the help of nannies, assistants, and/or family members.”
“Father chose when and how much he saw the children while the children lived with me full-time in my home,” she continued.
“When Father was in town and not traveling for basketball, publicity, endorsements, or his music endeavors, he would pop over to visit for anywhere between thirty minutes to an hour to play with the kids while I was there or while a nanny was present a few times a week.”
Kay’La added that Lillard being a family man was a false narrative that she helped broadcast to the world.
“I understand he is busy and has many commitments he must attend to,” she said. “I also understand that the brand ‘Damian Lillard’ needs to continue with an image of a family-man. Despite our separation for several months, I have continued to support that image to the public.”
Kay’La claims she and Dame have been living apart since October last year, however his divorce filing says he lived with the family until late December.
