Damian Lillard Files for Divorce Days After Blockbuster Trade

Damian Lillard wanted to start from scratch when he was traded to the Bucks, so much so, he and his wife filed for divorce on October 2 – just days afterwards.

Maybe Dame’s wife, Kay’La Hanson, wasn’t too keen to build a new life in the action-packed, vibrant town of Milwaukee.

Or, she was just so sick of the Lillard trade rumors over the summer that she couldn’t take it anymore.

In all seriousness, obviously very sad when a relationship breaks down, especially when the couple have been together since college.

The pair called it quits due to “irreconcilable differences”, according to Portland-based Willamette Week.

“Former Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard filed for divorce Oct. 2 from Kay’La Lillard, his wife and the mother of his three children…,” Sophie Peel of Willamette Week wrote. “The divorce filing, filed in Clackamas County Circuit Court, cites “irreconcilable differences” between the Lillards that “caused the irremediable breakdown of their marriage.”

Dame and Kay’La had been living separately for almost a year, since Kay’La moved to a $2.7 million West Linn home last December.

While Lillard remain at their $7.7 million mansion in the same Portland suburb, then Lillard to a home in Tualatin in September of this year, the report says.

Lillard and Kay’La met at Weber State University in Utah and got married in Santa Barbara, California, after ten years of being together in September of 2021.

They have three children together – a 5-year-old son named Damian Jr., and 2-year-old fraternal twins Kalii and Kali.

“Lillard’s attorney, Shawn Menashe, said in a statement to WW that “Damian and his family ask that their privacy be respected during this sensitive time and presently have no further comment,” Peel reported.
