DeMarcus Cousins shocked the basketball world when he joined the Guaynabo Mets of Puerto Rico’s professional basketball league this week as he searches for a way back into the NBA.

Hip hop icon Ice Cube, who co-founded three-on-three league aptly named BIG3, says that the big man should try out his talents in his league instead.

“My man Boogie going overseas,” Ice Cube said said on Stephen A.Smith’s Know Mercy. “Boogie, come play in the Big3 on CBS, man! Sometimes I feel a little conflicted about asking guys to come to the league when I know they still deserve to be in the NBA. And he’s a guy that deserves to be in the NBA, Isaiah Thomas is a guy that deserves to be in the NBA right, Lou Williams deserves to be in the NBA. So I’ll be a little conflicted about asking them, but if they don’t want you, we do got you.

“You know, get down for the fans in the league where you can shine and be treated like the superstar that you are.”

32-year-old Cousins’ most recent NBA stint was with Denver in the 2021-22 last season, where he was averaging 8.9 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 31 games.

Cousins has played for seven different NBA teams in his career and his injury history and personal issues have certainly contributed to the fact that he’s remained a free agent since playing for the Nuggets.

Warriors GM Bob Myers said in November of last year that Cousins even called him and asked why he isn’t playing.

Hopefully, Cousins can prove his worth in the Baloncesto Superior Nacional and an NBA team might just take a chance on him.
