Players Called Jacob Blake’s Father To Get His Input On NBA Resumption

What was originally left out of the reporting of the Milwaukee Bucks initial boycott of their game five matchup with the Orlando Magic, was the fact that five minutes after the decision was made not to take the floor, the Bucks’ had jumped on the phone and spoken to Jacob Blake Sr. about the situation.

Blake Sr, who is the father of his namesake Jacob Blake (who was shot seven times in the back by a law enforcement officer as he opened the door of his car), said he was floored by the call, and was extremely emotional when he realised who was on the other end of the line.

“Five minutes after they walked off the court, they were on the phone with me,” Blake Sr. said whilst speaking on ESPN.

“It touched me so deeply that I shed tears over the phone. They could hear me crying. Giannis [Antetokounmpo] told me I made him cry in front of the whole team. I didn’t intend to make them cry. They felt me and I felt them. I am the newest Milwaukee Bucks fan.”

The conversion into Milwaukee mega-fan is quite the step for Blake Sr, who is a self-confessed Chicago Bulls supporter. In addition, NFL team the Green Bay Packers have said they will take on the bill for six hotel rooms near the hospital where his son is recovering, so that family can be near.
