Jimmy Butler Opens Up on Grueling Rehab

Butler (7)

Jimmy Butler may be out for the season, but he hasn’t stepped away from the Golden State Warriors.

Ahead of Monday night’s matchup against the Washington Wizards, the veteran forward rejoined the team on the road as he continues recovering from a torn ACL. While his presence offers a boost off the court, Butler made it clear the journey back hasn’t been easy.

“All in all, I’m good, man. I’m happy,” Butler said when speaking to reporters.

Despite keeping a positive mindset, Butler didn’t shy away from the reality of his situation. The 36-year-old admitted the mental and physical grind of rehab has been one of the toughest stretches of his career.

“Tough. Not being around my guys is hard. Not being able to play the game that I love,” Butler said. “Not being able to travel. It’s tough, but the rehab has been going. We’re doing what we’re supposed to be doing to try and get back on the timeline that we talked about getting back on.”

Butler has remained close to the team during his recovery, with the journalist noting he was present at Capital One Arena while continuing his rehab process, according to Sam Gordon.

“Whenever my body is ready, I promise I’m trying to get back out there,” Butler said, via Sam Gordon.

There’s still no exact timeline for his return, but Butler made it clear his focus is on getting back as soon as his body allows.

“I do want to come back. We all know that,” Butler added. “I can’t say when. Obviously, as early as I can to help my guys win some games. …. Whenever my body is ready.”

His absence has been felt heavily. Golden State has struggled to find consistency, particularly with Stephen Curry also sidelined. The team has won just two of its last ten games and enters the Wizards matchup on a five-game losing streak.
