Draymond Green Says Kevin Durant is Dodging Allegations

Durant (25)

The NBA’s All-Star break was dominated by an off-court controversy, as social media erupted over allegations that Kevin Durant was operating a burner account to criticize current and former teammates. While nothing was proven, the situation quickly escalated due to Durant’s history of admitting he has used anonymous accounts in the past.

When the Houston Rockets returned to practice, Durant was asked directly about the account. He declined to give a clear answer.

“I know you got to ask these questions, but I’m not here to get into Twitter nonsense,” Durant told reporters, via Varun Shankar of the Houston Chronicle. “My teammates know what it is. We’ve been locked in the whole season.”

Durant’s response, or lack thereof, caught the attention of his former Golden State Warriors teammate Draymond Green, who addressed the situation. Green made it clear he would have handled things differently.

“Personally, I am one that, when things come up about me, I like to address them,” Green said on The Draymond Green Show podcast. “Either it’s me, or it’s not me. I like to address them because I think when you don’t address things, you leave it up for debate. You leave it up for people to decide what they want to decide.

“I personally just don’t think that this is something that you can just allow people to decide what they want to decide, because it involves so many other people, including people that you have to go to war with this year. And so, with that being said, I don’t know that it’s something that you could just not say anything about.

“When stuff happens in the public eye, it’s hard to just address it behind closed doors, because everybody still has their opinion. And so, I personally would address it publicly if it’s a public thing and it’s taking on the life that it’s taken. But to each his own.”
