Kevin Durant addressed the latest wave of social media speculation head-on this week, dismissing allegations that he operates burner accounts used to criticize teammates and coaches as nothing more than online noise.
The Houston Rockets star made it clear he has little interest in engaging with the controversy, which gained traction during NBA All-Star Weekend.
“I know you gotta ask these questions, but I’m not here to get into Twitter nonsense,” Durant told reporters. “My teammates know what it is; we’ve been locked in the whole season. We had a great practice today, looking forward to the road trip.”
The allegations stem from screenshots that circulated online over the weekend, purporting to show group messages on X posted under multiple aliases allegedly tied to Durant.
The messages included critical remarks about Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker and former head coach Frank Vogel, as well as Golden State Warriors stars Stephen Curry and Steve Kerr. Comments about Rockets teammates Alperen Sengun and Jabari Smith Jr. were also included.

The 37-year-old has a long and well-documented history with social media.
He has nearly 20 million followers on X and roughly 14 million on Instagram, and his online presence has previously landed him in the spotlight.
In 2017, Durant acknowledged mistakenly tweeting from his personal account while speaking in the third person about his decision to leave the Oklahoma City Thunder, criticizing the organization and then-head coach Billy Donovan. He later apologized for the incident.
Two years later, Durant spoke openly about anonymous accounts during an appearance on “The Boardroom.”
“At that time, it was just a way for me to speak freely without the spotlight of fame attached to it,” Durant said in the 2019 interview.
In April 2021, the NBA fined Durant $50,000 for using “homophobic and misogynistic language” during a private Instagram exchange with actor Michael Rapaport.
