Seth Curry Reportedly Re-Joins Golden State

The Golden State Warriors are turning to a trusted name as they look to stabilize their inconsistent start, and that name is Curry.

With Stephen Curry still recovering from a quad contusion, the franchise is set to welcome back his younger brother, Seth, on a one-year deal for the remainder of the season, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported Sunday.

Curry spent all of training camp and the preseason with Golden State after signing an Exhibit 9 contract in September, before being waived on October 18th due to financial restrictions.

The expectation at the time was that the Warriors would revisit the deal once his veteran minimum salary could be prorated, allowing the team to remain under the league’s second apron.

The 35-year-old guard arrives with a résumé built on elite shooting. He has averaged 10 points, 2 rebounds and 1.9 assists across 11 NBA seasons while hitting 47.1 percent from the field and 43.3 percent from three-point range, which currently is the eighth-best mark in league history and better than his brother, Steph’s, 42.2 percent clip.

He led the league in three-point shooting last season with Charlotte and has carved out his decade-long career through relentless accuracy and adaptability. Golden State, despite its reputation for perimeter firepower, has remained a middling three-point team early in the season.

The younger Curry has moved through Dallas, Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Portland, Sacramento, Phoenix, Cleveland and Memphis, a long journey now bringing him back to the Bay. Whether he cracks Steve Kerr’s rotation consistently remains to be seen, but Golden State’s shooting drought makes the fit obvious.
