Anthony Davis has found himself at the center of a storm in Dallas, and this time it has nothing to do with his play.
Ever since the Mavericks moved on from general manager Nico Harrison earlier this month, the trade chatter surrounding Davis has surged, and recently, the All-NBA big finally addressed it.
“Man, look. Y’all make it like we’re going to war or something,” Davis said speaking to reporters. “This is basketball. It comes with it. I think everybody in their career has been involved in trade talks, been traded or some type of move. That doesn’t affect me. I’ve been in trade talks for a while. My job is to do what I do when I’m on the floor, play basketball and try to lead this team. Whatever comes out of that, comes out of that. I don’t really have any control over that, but I do have an open line of communication with the front office and I’m just ready to get back on the floor.”
Anthony Davis was asked about his name being involved in trade rumors:

His comments come after ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that Dallas would listen to trade calls for Davis as they re-evaluate the roster and continue positioning Cooper Flagg as the franchise cornerstone.
Minority owner Mark Cuban publicly denied the idea of moving him, but the team’s 5-14 start has only intensified speculation.
Davis, who is expected to return from a calf strain this weekend, also admitted that Harrison’s firing left him stunned.
“It was surprising more than anything,” AD said. “Nico’s my guy. He played a huge part in getting me here & wanting me to fulfill his vision that he saw. It was definitely tough. Me & him had a conversation. Me and [Mavs governor] Patrick [Dumont] had a conversation. It’s the business of basketball.”
