Draymond Green Says MPJ’s Wild Podcast Could Be Real Career Path

Michael Porter Jr. has been putting up career-best numbers in Brooklyn, but according to Draymond Green, the part of MPJ’s life that might outshine everything he does on the court is happening behind a microphone.

Green said Porter Jr. went on “the craziest run of podcasting this summer of anyone I’ve seen in the podcasting space in a long time, if anytime,” Green said. “He did everything from talking about his old team to bringing a couple guys’ baby mamas on his platform.”

Porter Jr. has averaged 24.8 points, 7.7 rebounds and 3.1 assists in his first season with the Nets, but Green was more fascinated by the uncensored personality Porter displayed once he left Denver.

“It was a very interesting space to see Michael Porter Jr. in. I had no idea that that was the guy behind the basketball jersey, but it’s good to see his personality,” Green said.

MPJ’s rawest moment came during a “Glory Daze” episode, when he revealed what three-time MVP Nikola Jokic told him after the trade.

“They just all kind of texted in the group chat and the only thing Nikola said is ‘Wrap it up out there in New York City.’… ‘Make sure you wear condom out there.’ That’s all he said. That was his goodbye to me.”

But as Porter’s stories became more unfiltered, Brooklyn reportedly stepped in.

Green explained, “It seems like once he left Denver, it was like a free-for-all—like, ‘Oh, I can say whatever the hell I want to say right now.’ And apparently the Nets weren’t quite liking that, and they asked him to chill out.”

Despite the team’s efforts, Green believes Porter Jr. may have already found a second calling.

“I think if anything, MPJ, you probably created yourself a lane when you’re done. Raunchy sex television, Michael Porter Jr. gonna run the field.”
