Kelly Oubre Jr. Fires Back at 76ers Trade Buzz

Oubre

Kelly Oubre Jr. has had enough of the whispers.

The veteran wing picked up his $8.4 million player option with the Philadelphia 76ers this summer, but he’s not staying quiet as trade chatter continues to swirl.

Oubre sent a pointed message to the fanbase, on Instagram.

“I love Philly, but the love doesn’t seem to be reciprocated,” Oubre Jr. said. “What happened to this place? And for those saying I’m garbage because my 3% went down. $till put up numbers and I’d $Till cook you. I played through finger surgery’s on my (left hand) thumb and pinky for three years, but $Till put my soul in this s***. That’s one thing only GOD can take from me. Hope to see ya’ll soon. Godspeed.”

The 30-year-old guard has been one of Philadelphia’s more durable pieces in an otherwise battered roster. Only Ricky Council IV and Guershon Yabusele suited up in more games last season.

Across 60 appearances, Oubre averaged 15.1 points on 47 percent shooting, 6.1 rebounds, and 1.5 steals, though he knocked down just 29.3 percent of his looks from deep.

Even before opting in, Oubre hinted at his uncertain role. Back in April, he told reporters he was committed but realistic about the business side.

“I’m a Philadelphia 76er. I’m blessed to be a part of this organization,” Oubre said. “I’m taking my decision day by day, but also, you know, this is a business. At the end of the day, I’m happy and I feel like I like to finish what I start and I don’t feel complete. So, you know, godspeed.”
