Devin Booker isn’t going anywhere for the foreseeable future.
The Phoenix Suns superstar has agreed to a two-year, $145 million maximum extension that will keep him with the franchise through the 2029-30 season.
Booker’s deal includes the highest annual extension salary in NBA history at $72.5 million, surpassing Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s $71.25 million per year average, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
The move lines up with Booker’s comments in March about him wanting to be a one-franchise player.
“I take pride in the community in Phoenix, the people that have supported me since I was 18 when things were ugly,” Booker told ESPN’s Tim MacMahon. “And the people that are with us, we just fell short of accomplishing what we want. So I want to do it, and I want to do it here. That’s the responsibility of being a franchise player, and I wear that with honor. So it might not look the most pretty right now, but we got to get it done and I’m going to do it.”
The 28-year-old guard, drafted 13th overall in 2015, has spent his entire 10-year career in Phoenix.
Last season, Booker became the Suns’ all-time leader in points scored while continuing his offensive dominance. He averaged 25.6 points, 7.1 assists, and 4.1 rebounds per game.
