The footage of former NBA star Rajon Rondo’s arrest earlier this year has been released online by TMZ.
The video shows the police officer in Jackson County Indiana pull Rondo over and explained it was because he didn’t have a license plate on the back of his car.
The officers who pulled him over clearly knew who he was, since one officer can be heard saying to the other,”He’s a former basketball player. He played for a bunch of NBA teams. …Not that I care, I’m just telling you.”
Rondo had his 12-year-old son Pierre in the car with him at the time and was allegedly driving at 100 mph.
Rondo was then arrested when police said they found a firearm, drug paraphernalia and marijuana in the car.
The gun was an issue, because he was not allowed to possess a firearm following to a domestic incident in 2022, when he threatened the mother of his son.
For the January incident, Rondo entered a plea deal in September, so two charges were dropped and instead of facing 180 days in jail, he’s on probation.
Since his arrest, Rondo was spotted as a guest at the Bucks training camp recently.
Head coach Doc Rivers revealed to ESPN that the former Lakers player “will remain with the team in an unspecified capacity this season.
“You’ll see him a lot,” Rivers said. “That’s all I’ll say.”
He formally retired from a 16-season NBA career in April and told ESPN earlier this month that he “absolutely” hopes to become an NBA coach someday.
“There’s a lot of factors that go into coaching,” Rondo said. “You just can’t say, I’m going to be a coach, and then everything works out and that’s how it happens. So certain personalities have to mesh, [and there’s] a lot of sacrifice. There are certain things that I’m learning. The morning meetings, the amount of hours you’re spending watching film, it’s a lot.”
