The Latest on Kevin Durant’s Status For The 2028 Olympics

Durant

Kevin Durant should be considered a potential candidate to play for Team USA at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, according to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst.

That is despite the fact that Durant will be 39 years old when the LA Olympics roll around.

“I would not rule out KD playing, and I talked with Team USA officials, and they would give him a provisional yes right now,” Bran Windhorst said Monday’s episode of The Hoop Collective (49:50 mark).

Meanwhile, Durant himself did not give much away when asked whether he might play in 2028.

“We’ll see,” he told reporters on Saturday.

We likely won’t know for sure whether or not Durant will play until the months preceding the 2028 Olympics. But it’s not hard to see the appeal of suiting up.

Durant and the rest of Team USA clearly had the time of their lives playing alongside each other in Paris.

KD also has the chance to extend his legendary status as the most accomplished player to ever represent the United States, as the country’s leader in scoring and gold medals.

Then again, maybe he will feel as though there is nothing left for him to accomplish. Only time will tell.
