“You can’t fire me, I quit!”
That seems to be the message from Patrick Beverley today, who is claiming he actually requested a trade out of LA.
“To some people, it could be that Pat Bev got traded, when in all reality I didn’t like what was going on and let’s find a better home for me,” Beverley said on his podcast. “Not so, that he ain’t good enough, let’s get rid of him. All that shit was my decision. So, you gotta think, I’m making the decision, it was my decision, they honored my request…”
The idea that Beverley asked out before the Lakers wanted him out seems a little unlikely considering the team was reportedly shopping him for months.
But in terms of what Beverley didn’t like about the Lakers, he has previously said the team’s problems were less about basketball and more about the “vibes”.
“It was other sh*t,” he said two weeks ago. “But other s**t that you really can’t like pin or point out. You know, comes and goes. You know, a little bit here, a little bit there… Inconsistent vibes lead to inconsistent play.”
Beverley is now a member of his hometown Bulls, where has helped Chicago hold their opponents to under 90 points in his first two games with the team. That’s something the Bulls only managed one other time across the season.
