Lakers Will Look to Target Nikola Jokic: Report

Jokic

The Nikola Jokic to the Lakers rumors are BACK! Get the latest intel below:

It would be absolutely insane to see two of the biggest European superstars on the same team.

But also a little hard to imagine considering most of the Lakers captail is tied in three players for the forseeable future – Luka, Austin Reaves and Walker Kessler.

He has yet to sign a long-term extension with the Nuggets, and although the three-time MVP has stated that he will wait until next summer to do so, the NBA is a funny place where anything could happen.

So, the Jokic rumors have been reignited.

The team is going to be “dead-set” on acquiring Jokić after their ownership situation is sorted out, Lakers insider Anthony F. Irwin, says.

“All I’ll say is if/when the Lakers get their ownership situation figured out, a lot of the organization’s eyes are going to be dead-set on Denver,” he said, via X.

Another insider thinks Jokic to Los Angeles is inevitable.

“The odds of the three-time MVP leaving the Nuggets increased. He wants to be a Nugget for life, so Lakers fans should bet the house on landing him. Things can change quickly in the NBA. If Denver struggles again this season, Jokic may look to move on next summer. It would take a sign-and-trade to get him to Los Angeles, but the Lakers would happily make that move,” Lake Show Life’s Tyler Watts says.

The Serbian star will be 31 years of age this season and has a $62.8 million player option for 2027-28 – the final season on his five-year, $276.1 million extension he signed after he the Nuggets won their first NBA title in 2023 – largely thanks to the big man.

But the Nuggets are a very different team from three years ago and last years struggled to compete with the big dogs at times.
