Brian Windhorst Dampens 76ers’ Regular Season Expectations

The Philadelphia 76ers have arguably the most talented roster in the NBA.

LeBron James. Joel Embiid. Jaylen Brown. Tyrese Maxey.

So naturally, expectations are sky-high.

But there’s one LeBron James stat that should have Sixers fans pumping the brakes on the sentiment that this team is going to cruise through the regular season.

NBA insider Brian Windhorst recently highlighted the number while discussing Philadelphia’s expectations.

“In the last nine years, do you know how many times LeBron’s team has gone over 50.5 [wins]? Twice,” Windhorst said on The Hoop Collective. “So LeBron hasn’t been on powerhouse regular season teams for a while now… I think they could be an excellent team and be formidable and win about 48 games. I think winning 48 games in the Eastern Conference is going to be a good season. Also, when LeBron changes teams, they tend to get off to a slow start.”

LeBron is 41 and entering his 24th NBA season. He hasn’t been playing regular seasons like they’re playoff runs for years, and that isn’t going to suddenly change now.

Philadelphia is that this team has a lot to figure out. LeBron and Embiid have never played together. Neither have LeBron and Brown.

Maxey has developed into a star with the ball in his hands, and now he has to find his role alongside three players who will also demand touches.

Just today, a video appeared on social media with Maxey discussing how all the big stars on the 76ers needs to leave their egos at the door, which is defintely easier said than done when you have the kind of star power the 76ers now have.

If LeBron, Embiid, Brown and Maxey can figure it out and make a deep run come June, nobody is going to care whether they won 48 games or 58.
