LeBron James’ free agency speculation reached another level this week after the Miami Heat briefly posted a YouTube livestream titled “LeBron James Introductory Press Conference” before quickly removing it.
The post immediately sparked widespread speculation that James had chosen to return to Miami, but the franchise says that is not the case.
A Heat spokesperson confirmed the livestream was uploaded accidentally by the team’s social media department while preparing for the possibility of James signing with the franchise, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
The spokesperson told Charania the link was posted by mistake before being deleted shortly afterwards.
It looks as though the employee paid the price, as Miami was quick to post a job opening.

The incident comes as LeBron continues to weigh his options in unrestricted free agency for the first time since 2018.
While no decision has been announced, ESPN has reported that the Cleveland Cavaliers, Philadelphia 76ers and Miami Heat remain among the leading contenders for the four-time NBA champion, with the Golden State Warriors also linked as a potential destination.
The timing of the accidental upload only added to the intrigue surrounding James’ future.
Earlier on Tuesday, James’ longtime agent, Rich Paul of Klutch Sports, made it clear there is still no timetable for a decision, saying he does not know when his client will choose where he will play next season, according to ESPN.
Miami has not hidden its interest in a reunion.
Last week, Heat president Pat Riley publicly revealed that both he and newly acquired superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo would welcome James back to South Beach.
