Warriors Eye Roster Reload With LeBron James & Kawhi Leonard

The Golden State Warriors could be gearing up for one of the most aggressive offseasons in recent memory.

With injuries and inconsistency derailing their 2025–26 campaign, Golden State is expected to explore major roster moves, and two of the biggest names in the league are already being linked.

The Warriors could reportedly try to acquire Kawhi Leonard and LeBron James this summer, according to NBA insider Marc Stein.

The front office has already shown interest in Leonard, making a push before the trade deadline earlier this year.

The Warriors reportedly tried to deal for Leonard before the Feb. 9 trade deadline after the Los Angeles Clippers traded James Harden to the Cleveland Cavaliers and Ivica Zubac to the Indiana Pacers.

That move never materialized, but the door may still be open. The Los Angeles Clippers have begun shifting toward a younger core, potentially making Leonard available again.

“At 39-36, the Clippers are currently the eighth seed in the Western Conference and have not advanced past the first round since the 2020-2021 season,” Tarohn Finley of Yahoo sports wrote. “With the Clippers pivoting from an older roster to bring in more youth at the deadline, the Warriors are expected to once again try to trade for Leonard.”

Meanwhile, James presents a different kind of opportunity. The 41-year-old is set to hit free agency, making him a far simpler acquisition path for Golden State.

A potential pairing with Stephen Curry and Draymond Green has obvious appeal, both on and off the court.

Golden State’s urgency is clear. The Warriors are 36-38 this season and are currently the 10th seed in the Western Conference sitting outside the playoff picture and have struggled to stay healthy, with Curry appearing in limited games this season.

After moving away from its two-timeline experiment and leaning into veterans, the Warriors now face a defining summer, one that could reshape the franchise around its aging core for one final run.
