Luka Doncic Facing Family Battle Amid Breakup With Fiancée

Doncic (54)

Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic is currently dealing with a difficult personal situation away from basketball, revealing that he has separated from his fiancée, Anamaria Goltes, while also navigating a custody dispute involving their two daughters.

Luka confirmed the separation in a statement shared with ESPN, explaining that the decision was made with his children’s wellbeing in mind.

“I love my daughters more than anything and I’ve been doing everything I can for them to be with me in the U.S. during the season, but that hasn’t been possible, so I recently made the tough decision to end my engagement,” Doncic said in a statement provided to ESPN. “Everything I do is for my daughters’ happiness and I will always fight to be with them and give them the best life I can.”

Goltes recently filed a legal petition in California seeking child support and attorney fees, according to sources familiar with the situation. The filing reportedly came as a surprise to Doncic, who sources say had “no idea” the petition had been submitted.

Sources close to the situation added that Doncic has consistently supported his family financially and covers his daughters’ expenses “without limitation.”

The couple had been together for several years before their engagement. Doncic proposed to Goltes in July 2023 after the two had known each other since childhood and began dating in 2016.

Their first daughter, Gabriela, was born in November 2023 while Doncic was still playing for the Dallas Mavericks. Their second child, Olivia, was born in Slovenia last December after Doncic had already joined the Lakers.

Doncic briefly stepped away from the team earlier in the season to travel to Slovenia for Olivia’s birth, missing games against the Toronto Raptors and Boston Celtics.

“I don’t even know how to describe it,” Doncic said after returning to the team. “It was a lot. I was there for the birth of my daughter, so that means everything to me. But it was definitely a roller coaster.”
