Wizards Still Waiting on Anthony Davis & Trae Young Clearance

Davis (13)

The Washington Wizards remain without their two biggest recent acquisitions, as both Anthony Davis and Trae Young continue to work back from injuries with no firm return date in sight.

The team released a statement Thursday confirming that Anthony Davis has not yet been cleared to play due to a lingering hand injury. Davis is scheduled to be re-evaluated in two weeks.

At the same time, newly acquired point guard Trae Young remains sidelined with a knee injury and is expected to miss at least another week.

Washington’s announcement means neither star has appeared in a game since joining the franchise, despite both being brought in with hopes of injecting legitimacy and long-term optimism into a struggling organization.

Davis arrived in a stunning move at the NBA trade deadline, while Young was acquired from Atlanta in January as part of a broader roster reshaping.

For Wizards fans, patience has become familiar. The franchise has not reached the postseason since the 2020–21 season, the same year Bradley Beal earned All-Star honors, was named 3rd Team All-NBA, and finished second in the league in scoring at 31.3 points per game, trailing only Stephen Curry.

That season marked the last time Washington had an All-Star representative.

Adding two established All-Star and All-NBA caliber players in Davis and Young would typically be cause for celebration in the nation’s capital.

However, injuries have delayed that optimism, leaving fans waiting to see how the pairing might look on the floor together.
