The Giannis Antetokounmpo trade rumors are starting to gain traction again and the Knicks are watching very closely.
New York has been “monitoring” Antetokounmpo’s situation in Milwaukee dating back months, per The Athletic’s James L. Edwards III.
“It is my understanding that Leon Rose and company have been monitoring Giannis Antetokounmpo’s situation in Milwaukee very closely, even before the offseason started,” Edwards wrote. “Many around the league believe the Knicks are interested in star hunting, and while that opportunity hasn’t popped up yet, I certainly believe it’s in the cards if the right situation presents itself.”
Given Antetokounmpo’s all-but shored up future with the Bucks, B/R’s Grant Hughes came up an interesting trade proposal.
New York Knicks Receive: Giannis Antetokounmpo
Milwaukee Bucks Receive: Karl-Anthony Towns, Danny Wolf, 2026 first-round swap (NYK), 2028 first-round swap (worst of NYK and BKN), 2030 first-round swap (NYK)
Brooklyn Nets Receive: Josh Hart, 2026 second-round pick (MIL via NYK), 2026 second-round pick (MIN via NYK)”
Because Giannis hasn’t 100 percent confirmed his position with the Bucks, rumors continue to fly.
ESPN insider Shams Charania is the main driver.
“There is nothing set in stone about whether or not Giannis Antetokounmpo stays in Milwaukee or whether he wants to leave elsewhere,” Charania shared this week. “He’s been evaluating his future this entire offseason. I reported way back in mid-May that he is open-minded about whether his best fit is in Milwaukee or in a trade. That process has been continuing. There’s been some conversations he’s having with his inner circle.
“The one big question that’s been surrounding Giannis Antetokounmpo, surrounding his camp, is can he win another championship? Is this Bucks roster built for this upcoming season, for him to win his second championship?”
