Texas Man Sentenced For Caitlin Clark Stalking Offenses

Clark (2)

A 55-year-old man from Texas has been sentenced to two and a half years in prison after pleading guilty to stalking Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark.

Michael Lewis, of Denton, admitted to one felony count of stalking and one misdemeanor count of harassment as part of a plea deal with Marion County prosecutors, according to WTHR Channel 13 in Indianapolis.

He’s been held at the Marion County Adult Detention Center since his January arrest and will receive credit for time served.

“This resolution ensures that the defendant is held accountable for his threatening actions, the fear he instilled, and the disruption he caused,” Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears said. “He will now spend the next two and a half years in the Department of Correction and the victim will be able to have peace of mind while focusing on what matters to her.”

Court documents revealed Lewis sent Clark hundreds of disturbing messages on X between December 12, 2024, and January 11, 2025. One message read, “Been driving around your house 3x a day. But don’t call the law just yet, the public is allowed to drive by gainbridge..aka Caitlin’s Fieldhouse.”

In another post, Lewis wrote, “I’m getting tickets. I’m sitting behind the bench.”

And in a particularly bizarre message, he said, “They said I was sending threatening texts..but the only though on my mind was….CAITLIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNN.”

The FBI traced Lewis’ activity to a hotel and a public library in downtown Indianapolis. When police made contact, he told officers he was in “an imaginary relationship” with the 23-year-old WNBA star and had traveled to Indianapolis for a vacation.

Despite that initial welfare check, Lewis continued to harass Clark.

He’s now barred from attending Fever or Pacers events, visiting Gainbridge Fieldhouse or Hinkle Fieldhouse, contacting Clark in any way, or accessing the internet during his sentence.

During Monday’s sentencing, the judge also recommended Lewis receive mental health treatment. “You can’t help yourself until you get help,” the judge told him.
