Moses Moody Opens Up on Kevon Looney Heartbreak

Kevon Looney’s run with the Warriors is officially over, and teammates like Moses Moody are already feeling the void.

The two-time NBA champion agreed to a two-year, $16 million deal with the New Orleans Pelicans, ending his decade-long stint in the Bay Area.

Warriors guard Moses Moody shared why losing Looney stings so deeply for the franchise.

“It’s going to be tough losing Loon in so many ways,” Moody said on the Willard & Dibs Show. “He’s been here since I got here. The person he’s been for the team and for me is immeasurable. He definitely can’t be replaced in any way – including the yoga room.”

Moody reflected on how Looney impacted his growth, both on and off the court.

“…The way he looked out for me and brought [yoga] to my attention and made it accessible to me,” Moody said. “He even paid for me to do it in my first year. So just extending that out to guys coming in the way he did for me. And he didn’t put pressure on me to do it. Same thing with Chapel. Going to Chapel before the games. He told me he was going and it was up to me to go if I wanted to or not.”

The 29-year-old played 599 regular season games for Golden State, averaging five points and 5.7 rebounds. While his stats never jumped off the page, his leadership, defense, and consistency made him a cornerstone under Steve Kerr.

The Warriors are reportedly looking to add veterans Al Horford and De’Anthony Melton, with NBA insider Marc Stein predicting both players will wind up in Golden State when their signing commitments are made public and official.
