Well, the Thunder have done it. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and co are the youngest NBA to ever win a championship and the FIRST OKC TEAM EVER to bring home a chip.
The game was marred by Tyrese Haliburton’s heartbreaking injury in the first quarter, but you’ve got to give OKC their flowers.
The best team all year goes on to win the whole thing after a 103-91 victory. Big congrats to them.
SGA was his usual self, dropping 27 points, 5 rebounds, 12 assists, one steal, two blocks.
He also became the FIRST PLAYER IN NBA HISTORY to win league MVP, Scoring Title, Conference Finals MVP and Finals MVP.
Some are hyped about the win:
I don’t know how this game will end, I don’t know who will be the champion. But these playoffs were defined by the Pacers’ toughness and being ahead at the half says it all. The Thunder have an opportunity of a lifetime but they will have to take it, won’t be given. #NBAFinals…

But unfortunately, some fans on social media are not quite celebrating OKC as the champions they are.

OKC was supposed to win it all regardless of what happened but this is pretty much the most pathetic possible way they could have done it, I really don’t respect this ring at all
— red (@bluelemxnade) June 23, 2025
This okc ring abt to go down as one of the most fraudulent rings ever
Congrats.

okc is struggling with no hali they would have lost 100%

SGA is about to complete one of the best seasons ever for a guard. NBA scoring leader, 68-win team, MVP, conference finals MVP, Finals MVP, champion. OKC is a great team but it doesn’t work without SGA’s ability to get buckets on anybody.

This fan summed up the Thunder’s journey perfectly:
From the 3-29 start in the inaugural season in OKC..
..to the meteoric rise of the KD/Russ/Harden team.
..to the thrill of making the 2012 Finals and the promise of more to come.
..to 3 title-contending seasons taken away by injuries to Russ/KD/Ibaka.
..to being up 3-1 in the WCF.
..to KD’s hardest road.
..to Russ staying in OKC and his MVP season.
..to the Paul George trade and the OK3.
..to the franchise altering SGA trade.
..to trading away Russ.
..to that special CP3 playoff season.
..to hiring Mark Daigneault.
..to the Poku rebuild years.
..to drafting Chet and JDub.
..to the meteoric rise of the second era.
..to a historical 68 win season.
..all culminating in an NBA Championship coming home to Oklahoma City.
Congratulations, Thunder fans.
