Luka Doncic on What Impresses Him Most About LeBron James

Now that the dust has settled on the Luka Doncic-Lakers trade, he appeared on LeBron James’ podcast to speak honestly about his time with the purple and gold.

On the podcast, Luka was asked by Steve Nash what it’s like playing alongside one of the GOAT’s of the NBA

“I mean, it’s great,” Doncic said. “You see, I’ve never played with a guy like this and just being traded to here to L.A., it was different. But, just to play with guys like him, it’s unbelievable. I could learn so many stuff, first of all off the court, all the things he does just to be ready for the game. And obviously, everybody knows what kind of player he is.”

He also said he is impressed with something James does to get ready for a game, every single time.

“First of all he shows up like 10 hours before the game,” Dončić said. “That was really the main thing, like I was like, ‘What?’ I came to the arena and he was already done working out.”

LeBron returned the favor when asked about the former Dallas Mavericks star.

James wasn’t shy about showing appreciation for Luka’s ability to manipulate the defense, regardless of who is guarding him on the floor.

“It’s always his pace, and it’s always been his pace,” LeBron James said on “Mind the Game.” “It’s never been a game, like, ‘You could speed me up. He can speed me up. This bigger guy can be more physical. The smaller guy could get up underneath me.’ He moves at his own pace, and he’s never, ever, been on the floor where he’s allowed someone to dictate where they’re gonna put him on the floor. It’s always been the opposite.”

No doubt the pair will be in for a big 2026, especially if it will be LeBron’s last year in the league.
