Russell Westbrook’s wife has called an ESPN reporter for their words about her husband.
ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne published an article on Tuesday titled “Why the Nuggets’ title hopes might hinge on the most volatile player in the NBA” which has led his wife Nina Westbrook to call her out publicly for the ‘lies’ it contains.
Shelburne wrote about both the highs and lows of Westbrook’s career in the piece, calling him “fiery, focused, always competitive, always available,” but at the same time, “moody, out of control on the court, stubborn, immature.”
As you can imagine, Westbook’s wife did not take kindly to the article.
“Dirty work Ramona,” she wrote on Instagram story. “How could you share and spread so many lies randomly, for no reason, and with so much conviction. You’re using his name for clickbait during the playoffs which is ridiculous. Trust me, I know the facts about literally everything. Normally I let you guys tell your silly lies in peace. Enough already. Stop with the lies.”
She added, “‘VOLATILE? You should be ashamed for so many reasons. I’ll let you decipher them.”
The article also revealed that he and Aaron Gordon had a “heated discussion” following Denver’s Game 2 loss to the LA Clippers, while calling into question whether his game-winning assist to Gordon in the Nuggets’ Game 1 win over OKC was “an isolated incident or evidence of real change.”
Interestingly, Westbrook was publicly praised by Gordon at the time for making that play.
“The right play is the open man,” Gordon said. “Russ makes the right play a lot of times.”
Nina has been married to Russell since 2015 and this isn’t the first time she has called out reporters for the things they have written about her husband.
