It’s that time of year where the LeBron James trade rumors are in full swing, so let’s take a look at the juiciest chatter that’s out there.
By all reports, the Lakers are not seriously considering trading away LeBron, but if circumstances did change and the Lakers great wanted out, then this would be the situation, according to C/P’s Anthony Irwin.
“Where things can get interesting is if the Lakers slip at all in the standings or if it appears the trade market on wings would leave them devoid of assets moving forward to still not necessarily be considered a serious championship contender.
“Sources close to the Lakers did say that, if James asked the Lakers to trade him, they would work with him to find a deal that lands him where he’d rather be, but also brings back the kind of return that would jumpstart a rebuild. If James was traded, it’s also believed Bronny James would have to be part of the deal.”
LeBron’s former teammate and current ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins has also added fuel to the fire by saying that if James was demand a trade out of Los Angeles that the front office wouldn’t try and stop him.
“My sources tell me that if LeBron James at any point comes out and says that he wants to be traded or he wants to entertain it, they’re going to entertain it. It ain’t no holding him back.”
The frontrunners to land King James would likely be the Warriors, Mavericks and Cavaliers, but other teams like Oklahoma City Thunder and the Knicks could be in the mix as well.
They just need to make sure to leave an open space on the G-League team for Bronny.
