The NBA injury ward is full of stars in the early part of the 2024-25 season, including Kevin Durant, Ja Morant, Luka Doncic, Zion Williamson, Kawhi Leonard, Paolo Banchero, Scottie Barnes and Tyrese Maxey.
Let’s take a closer look at some of these injuries and return timetables.
KEVIN DURANT
In a huge blow for the 8-1 Suns, Kevin Durant suffered a left calf injury against the Mavs on Friday and will be re-evaluated in two weeks, Shams Charania says.
Durant has been off to an MVP-caliber start to the season and has been the main reason Phoenix are No.1 seed in the West.
What is most concerning is that it’s the same calf Durant strained over the summer before playing for Team USA in Paris. Although, it didn’t slow him down at the Olympics, in pre-season or to start the NBA season with the Suns, so let’s hope he can repeat the same process.
Across his first nine games, he’s averaging 27.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.4 blocks per game while shooting 55.3% from the field
JA MORANT
Grizzlies star Ja Morant is considered week-to-week after scans revealed a posterior hip subluxation, plus multiple associated Grade 1 pelvic muscle strains, Memphis announced Saturday.
Morant suffered the injuries when he tried to catch a lob in Wednesday’s win over the Lakers.

Somehow there was no foul called. Ridiculous.

“Morant was destabilized midair by a Lakers player, causing him to fall into extreme right hip flexion,” the Grizzlies explained.
Ja has been electric to start the season, so let’s hope we see him back on the court soon.
LUKA DONCIC
Luka Doncic was added to the injury report on Saturday’s game against the Nuggets – listed as questionable with a left groin strain, but he still played.
Doncic has played in all ten of the Mavs’ regular season games so far this season and has pretty much made a career off playing through niggling injuries, so hopefully this one won’t slow him down too much.
ZION WILLIAMSON
The Pelicans announced on Saturday that Williamson has suffered a strained left hamstring and he’ll be out indefinitely.
Zion has been listed as out with a hamstring problem four three of the four games he’s already missed this season.
Williamson also suffered a hamstring injury last season during one of the best games of his career, so no doubt the team will proceed with caution when it comes to return to play.
