Luka Doncic Suffers Injury in Preseason: Report

Doncic

Luka Doncic wasn’t at the Mavs second day of training camp in Las Vegas because he suffered a calf injury, the team announced.

Dallas announced that Doncic’s unavailability was due to a left calf contusion he sustained during workouts and he will be re-evaluated in one week.

“He got hit in the calf,” Mavericks coach Jason Kidd said. “Reported it tight yesterday so they went and got an MRI. We’ll reevaluate him in a week and see where he stands.”

Kidd added, “There’s no concern at this point about his availability. We’ll see how he feels in a week.”

Although there is no concern, its definitely not a good start to the pre-season for the Mavs’ biggest weapon on offense.

Doncic has a history of calf injuries in the preseason, since he did the same thing one year ago.

He was on a minutes restriction for the exhibition game against his former team Real Madrid and limited him for the rmeiander of the preseason.

But, the issue didn’t continue on into the regular season and the guard was fit for the season opener against the Spurs, where he dropped a 30-point triple-double in the Mavs’ win.

Luka has injured the same calf before, in the final regular-season game of the 2021-22 campaign. He missed the first three games of Dallas’ first-round series against Utah.

His re-evaluation timeline falls on Oct. 9, just one day before the Mavericks hosts the Jazz in the team’s second preseason game.
