Lakers coach JJ Redick has hinted at when we might see Bronny and LeBron James take the court together this season, in what will be historic moment for the franchise and the NBA as a whole.
While Redick didn’t drop a specific timeline or date of when we’ll see the father-son duo on the court, it sounds like it will happen early on in the season judging by the way Redick framed it.
“In terms of that moment, yeah, we’ve talked about it and we’ve thought about it,” Redick said on The Lowe Post on Tuesday. “We’ll get it done. I don’t want to commit to anything right now but that is going to happen and is going to happen sooner rather than later.”
Redick expanded on those ideas during his joint news conference with Rob Pelinka Wednesday and says he and the Lakers staff will be sure to involve both players in a plan for the day – whenever that may be.
“We obviously have talked about it as a staff and we’ve gotten into some specifics of what that might look like,” Redick said Wednesday during a joint news conference with Rob Pelinka. “But we haven’t committed to anything. And obviously, there’s a discussion to be had once we’re all together with Bronny and LeBron, too. They should be a part of that discussion as well.”
From the way its sounding, Bronny will certainly be spending some time with LA’s G-League team, after Redick gave the team some praise.
“I think Bronny is a young guy,” Redick told Lowe. “I am very high on him as a basketball player and I said this at his press conference I said he is kinda like our first player that we get to mold and help develop. So we’re going to look at the G-League as a tool in our player development system.”
