Anthony Edwards Recalls ‘Greatest Moment’ of His Life on Olympic Podium

At 23 years of age, winning a gold medal is small feat, but Anthony Edwards did it at the Paris Olympics.

It wasn’t just another gold medal for Team USA in the basketball though, it was done by one of the most talented USA teams in history.

Ant knew how special it was to be part of that never-to-be-repeated team that included Steph Curry and LeBron James teaming up for the first time ever.

The Timberwolves star recalled a special moment when he was getting presented with his medal.

“Steph was No. 4, I was No. 5, Bron was 6, and he [KD] was 7,” Edwards said at Fanatics Fest. “So when Steph’s name get called, they go crazy, my name get called, they are like, ‘Ahhh,’ and then Bron’s name get called, they go crazy, and then his name get called, they go crazy. So, me just being in the middle of them, I think that was the greatest time of my life. Like my brother took a picture of that. We like, ‘Bro, that’s the dopest picture we gonna have.'”

Team USA was so outstanding at the Paris Games that some of the players had to be drug tested, Ant revealed over the weekendduring an appearance alongside star forward Kevin Durant.

“We couldn’t even really celebrate for real because me, him [KD] and Steph had to take like a drug test or something,” Edwards said.

Curry was absolutely explosive for Team USA in the Final against France, after recording 24 points on eight threes, so a drug test for him isn’t too surprising.

In the same game, KD scored 15 points, and Edwards came away with eight points off the bench.

“He was supposed to get one after the first Serbia game,” Edwards said of Durant, referencing KD’s 23-point performance in Team USA’s first game against Serbia.
