Dennis Schroder has not taken kindly to a subtle dig from Kevin Durant following Team USA’s gold medal win at the Olympics.
During the Olympics, Schroder shared his thoughts on the key differences between the European and American styles of play. He argued that European basketball is all about “straight IQ basketball,” while the American game places a greater emphasis on “entertainment.”
Durant later referenced Schroder’s comments when he posted a photo of Team USA celebrating their gold medal win, complete with a caption that read “ENTERTAINMENT & IQ”.

Durant’s tweet quickly went viral, receiving 214,000 likes and 6.4 million views.
Schroder has since responded during a Twitch stream and called Durant “weak” for his post.
“that is just being weak, you are that type of star and have to say something to a person like me”

“You’re that type of a star, and you have to say something to a person like me who not even meant it to be negative,” Schroder said. “It was just what I see from both sides, you know what I’m saying? I didn’t appreciate it. I don’t care, but at the end of the day, that tweet, or whatever he posted, was because of me. For me, it was never no negative stuff. I respect all of those guys, all GOATs, but to say that tells me how weak he is as a person.”
Schroder is hardly the first player to speak about the difference between European basketball and the NBA.
Even Kobe Bryant, who spent a lot of time in Italy as a child, said in 2015 that “European players are just way more skillful” and “taught the game the right way at an early age.”
And while Bryant’s comments were also a critique of the way basketball is taught in the US, specifically in the AAU system, Schroder was simply observing the differences between basketball in Europe and the US.
But that still didn’t stop KD from clapping back.
